About
Sophie Downes is a small creative business, based in Perthshire, Scotland. Established in 2020, whilst studying BA (Hons) Textile Design at The Glasgow School of Art, Sophie began by selling personalised prints and a small collection of illustrated greetings cards. Two years later, Sophie is now an established sole trader selling greetings cards, stationery sets and homeware, adorned with her unique illustrations and decorative embellishments. Sophie accepts Surface Pattern Design commissions as well as produces products for her online shop.
Since establishing, Sophie has developed and sold multiple occasion-based card ranges and gift products, has launched floral printed stationery sets, has introduced multiple wholesale relationships and has been commissioned to produce surface pattern designs for brands across the UK.
Sophie Downes offers accessible prices, ethically produced products and uniquely illustrated designs. She aims to make an audience feel ‘happy’ through her designs and help de-clutter overwhelmed ‘noggins’. Often referring to herself and customers as ‘happy humans’, subtle nods towards valuing positive mental health is a key focus of her work.
Products are proudly made in the UK using sustainable print processes and material where possible. Sophie designs unique and playful prints with a positive 'happy human' focus.
